Why Dale Stephens Is Not Right for Young People Discussion
Discussion prompt:
The Critical Thinking Challenge on page 94 of your textbook states:
Dale Stephens first dropped out of school in the fifth grade because he was bored. He says, “I wanted to spend my time learning and everyone else just wanted to talk about the new Pokemon.” After he went to college for six months, he dropped out again. Although Stephens has not earned a college degree, he has received a Thiel Fellowship, which he says helps convince people that “I was a valuable human being.” He says the fellowship also provided him with a large number of networking opportunities. In his new book Hacking Your Education: Ditch the Lectures, Save Tens of Thousand, and Learn More than Your Peers Ever Will, Stephens says most young people would do better to train and network on their own.
