UCLA Deregulation and Its Impact on Administrative Law Memorandum
Research and write a memorandum-style assessment of a newspaper or magazine article, an Internet-based article, or some other professional source that addresses issues pertaining to Agency Oversight. Sources could include The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, or other scholarly and highly respected news source outlets, including think tanks. Under no circumstances will anything derived from Wikipedia be accepted as a source.
All sources must be referenced and listed on the last page of the memo in APA style (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition).
Your memorandum should discuss:
- Why the topic you chose represents an administrative law issue
- A general summary of the salient issues represented
- An evaluation of whether the article appears to have any bias associated with it and why
- An assessment of the author’s overall rationale and/or goal he or she hopes to achieve or communicate
- The relative utility this article may or may not have for public administrators operating in an administrative law environment.
- Your memorandum must be 3 to 4 pages long, typewritten in 11- to 12-point font, and double-spaced. Memorandums are worth 90 points each, and you must answer each of the five points indicated above. You may refer to the chapters on Judicial Review or other chapters from the Warren text for topic ideas, but you are not allowed to use it as a source for discussion in the memo. Each memo must be well written and free from grammatical or syntactical errors.
