SJSU Media and Product Consumption and Cultural Consumption Profile Discussion
This assignment requires you to evaluate your current interpersonal and mass media relationships based upon your media and production consumption habits and create your media target-marketing identity.
FORMAT: As with all assignments for this class, submit your assignment to CANVAS. Please submit both of your lists AND your essay as one document instead of three separate docs. Please make sure your name is at the top of every page of your paper. Double-space your paper and use 1 inch margins all around (it makes it easier to read).
PART 1: PRODUCT CONSUMPTION LIST
IMPORTANT: KEEP A COPY OF THIS PRODUCT LIST ON YOUR COMPUTER. YOU WILL NEED IT FOR ANOTHER ASSIGNMENT LATER IN THE COURSE.
You will provide an inventory os the products you’ve purchased and currently have in your home by making a list of EVERY product you use from the time you wake up, to the time you step out of the door to begin your day (one day only). I’m talking EVERY product: Bed, sheets, toilet paper, soap, clock radio, smart phone, breakfast food, furniture, the clothes you wear—EVERYTHING. If you prefer a specific brand of product, name it. For example, you can write down toothpaste (if you don’t care what brand) but if you have a brand preference, list it (e.g., Colgate Toothpaste). You must also describe why you use the product. An entry might look like this (but your list should be MUCH MUCH LONGER):

List any books, magazines, newspapers, comic books, television programs, videos, online or video games, dvds, Web sites, radio shows, music (cd or online), events (concerts, plays, etc.) List the content and the amount of time you spent consuming. PART 3: CULTURAL GROUP LIST:
Based upon Parts 1 and 2 (above), make one more list of cultural groups into which you think the media might categorize you based upon your consumer behavior (both products and media content.) Are you a sports fan? Are you a female? A male? A health nut? If someone never met you and only had a look at your lists, what would they think about you? Have at least five (5) varying groups.
PART 4: ANALYSIS PAPER (2 PAGES MAXIMUM—this does NOT include the above Parts 1.2.3 and their lists)
