November 2nd  will consist of Two Questions Essay from two books of the four that we just read in class: Facundo of Sarmiento, Martin Fierro of Hernandez, My Mission in Life of Evita Peron, and Broad and Alien is the World of Ciro Alegria. Questions Essay means that students will need to answer the question comprehensively and analytically. For example, some of the aspects that will include an essay question could be:

1. Identify  (indicate, list, name)
2. Describe  (list the characteristics of what you are identifying)
3. Demonstrate (paraphrasing or quoting from the book I have selected for that question. I don’t want quotes from outside sources or articles). 
4. Analyze ( elaborate and develop your ideas about the issue). 

Faustino Sarmiento, the author of Facundo, describes four types of gaucho people. and Jose Hernandez, the author of Martin Fierro, also describes the life of the gauchos:

Describe and demonstrate two types of Gauchos in the poem, Martin Fierro.

Analyze the differences in how the two authors portray the gaucho people.

Question 2 (50 points)

Describe and demonstrate two examples where Eva Peron describes her role with the workers and women of Argentina. (At least one example for each). Then, in your analysis, explain if there are any pros and cons in her approach to both movements.
