However, after the case arrived at the US Supreme Court, the previous ruling was reversed, and it maintained that an unwarranted search conducted during exigent circumstances did not amount to the violation of the Fourth Amendment. The condition for the position maintained was that a warrantless search did not violate the fourth amendment, as long as the police were not responsible for the creation of the exigency, after violating or threatening the fourth amendment (Levick, 2012).
