Overview:
During week 9 of the semester each student will write and submit via “Turn It In” a 500-word blog entry. Imagine that the title of the blog you are writing for is:

Fresh Perspectives on Sport throughout the World
The content of the blog will pertain to sport in a region of the world we have discussed or will discuss in class. First, the student should find a news article of interest regarding sport in a region of the world we have discussed thus far. In your blog post, copy and paste the web link to the news article. THE ARTICLE SHOULD BE FROM A NEWS OUTLET (SEE LIST BELOW) AND HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED WITHIN THE PAST 3 MONTHS. Below the link the write a blog responding to the news article. The response should include all of the following elements (see hyperlink above to document titled “How to write a blog entry for this course for more explanation and guidance”):
- A clever title
- Organized writing that includes an introduction, body, and conclusion
- Identify the region of the world to which your article relates
- Include and discuss ATLEAST 2 “Key Terms” from the Week 2 Reading – Chp 1 – Key Concepts and Critical Issues
- The Key Terms should be discussed as it relates to the news article you choose.
- Clearly identify the Key Term in your response by bolding it
- Include a citations within the blog (and at the end) referencing the sources from where you drew information for your blog. At a minimum cite your news article and Chp 1 – Key Concepts and Critical Issues. Use APA Format (Links to an external site.) for citations.
- Your response should include answers to as many as the following questions as possible (depending on the topic). Be sure to choose an article that coincides with these questions.
- In what ways does the topic in the article reflect the culture of the country/region?
- What kind of impact (culturally, educationally, financially) does the topic in the article have on its country?
- Compare / contrast the topic in the article and customs/issues surrounding it to sport in the United States?
- Do you agree or disagree with the rules/decisions discussed in the article?
- Why or Why not?
- How would have you handled the situation differently?
- What can the United States learn from the topic discussed in the article?
- Note: the response should NOT include summary information. ALL 500 words should be a RESPONSE.
