The  Project is structured around multiple current day issues which touch on Ethical Lapses or Ethical Dilemma. 

The Final Deliverable will be either a Powerpoint Slide Deck or a Word Document –  you decide which one you will use. 

Note –  if you choose to do a powerpoint, there should be 5 to 8 slides. If you choose an Essay in Word you must have a minimum of 750 words.

There are Three Parts to the Group Project Menu and the Group gets to decide which topics it will address.

Menu A consists of the following current day issues:

1) Volkswagen Emissions Scandal or 2) Juul Vape Market Removal of Products o r3) Boeing and its 737Max Aircraft Grounding or 4) Apple and its European Tax Liability potential (about $11 billion) or 5) Google and Amazon and their Platform Advantages or 6) Cryptocurrency Digital Money such as Bitcoin and the role played by issuing companies vs central banks that are regulated or 7) Adidas the Moral and Ethical Dilemma of Sponsorship and Endorsements in Promoting Products or Services 

Menu B consists of 1) the Business Roundtable view on Corporate Responsibility versus Milton Friedman’s view on Corporate Responsibility, Martin Wolf’s Financial Times Article on Saving Capitalism and Martin Lipton’s (Law Firm) artical “Directors have a duty to look beyond their Shareholders   or  2) The Difference Morally between the Economic School of thought known as Monetarists vs Keynesians

Menu C consists of one of the following topics 1) Democracy, 2) Social Democracy or 3) Communism      

Instructions follow:

You should select Two items from Menu A, One item from Menu B and One item from Menu C (so collectively 4 Items) 

For each item in A and B you will need to research the issue (use online sources, specifically access WSJ, FT, WP, NYT, Economist and others),  include the following responses based upon your individual research:   Describe the Issue, Provide Background and a Chronology/Timetable, Identify who the principal players are, identify the Ethical Lapse(s) or Ethical Dilemma(s), using S.E.A.or Valasquez decision-making model and identify one or more of the Philosophers and related philosophy which may best apply to the facts and circumstances of the Case(s).

For the item selected from Menu C, respond to the following:

The Philosophical points of view inherent in the Ideology (discuss at least three), the Philosopher most notable for the Ideology, What significant Countries are most identified with the Ideology (name at least three) and what’s the Group view on the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats to the Ideology at a Macro level
