Module 1: Choosing Directions for Research DB

This course requires you write a review of literature that synthesizes research that utilizes a theory we will cover in the course and/or course textbook. This first discussion board post is designed to get you thinking about what theory you might choose to explore for that final essay. This post will give your instructor the opportunity to provide you with some guidance on a theory you may be interested in pursuing in the course.

Please watch the Theory Preview Lecture prior to completing this post. The post should address the following:

• Choose two of the theories that were previewed in the brief lecture. ( Social Penetration Theory and Communication Privacy Management.
• Outline the primary assumption of each theory as articulated in the Theory Preview Lecture
• Outline at least one topic each theory attempts to predict and explain, or describe and interpret
• Briefly discuss why you have chosen these two theories. In other words, what interests you about these two theories? What is it about these theories that makes you want to do additional research on how they have been used in communication?
