Instagram is supposed to be friendly. So why is it making people, especially teenagers, so miserable? For a growing number of users and mental health experts, the positivity of Instagram is precisely the problem, with its relentless emphasis on promoting ‘perfect’ lifestyles. Should everyone just stop scrolling?

Your assignment: You have been asked to help design a study that will help the five local school districts (Jonesboro, Valley View, Brookland, Westside and Nettleton) obtain the answers they need to help students in grades 7-12. So, using your current knowledge of qualitative research methods and procedures, draft a white paper (proposal) explaining how you would tackle this research question (problem) about the Instagram problem in society. Choose a qualitative methodology (e.g., interviews, focus groups, content analysis, ethnography, etc.) and then be very specific in explaining all of the steps and procedures that should be followed to design a study using that methodology. In other words, explain how you would design a research study to explore the problem of Instagram and teens. Make sure this proposal is 2 pages long and formatted in APA style. You should have at least one source or citation listed in the reference section of the paper. Finally, remember that people who might not be familiar with qualitative research methods will be reading your paper/proposal.
