4.2 Summative essay (2000 words): design a social media research project.You are required to design a social media research project based on your chosen research
scenario and social media platform in the formative essay, Your report must follow a certain
required structure. You must use references (a minimum of 12) to support your discussion, and
follow the APA referencing style. You can find information about referencing styles in your
Information School Student Handbook. A penalty applies if these standards are not followed.
Your report should be structured into four sections. Section 1 explains your chosen research
scenario with details; Section 2 explains your data sampling and collection strategy, the method
and/or tools you will propose to use for collecting the data (again, you must not collect them);
Section 3 introduces the research method(s) and how it should be applied to your data to answer
your research questions, then reflects on the strength and weakness of the research methods in
the context of your proposed research; Section 4 discusses the ethical issues involved in your
research.
You must use appropriate references to support your discussion throughout your coursework.
These must be contextualised to your own research scenario and questions. You also must use at
least one research method taught on this module as otherwise, a penalty may apply. We do not
provide examples for the coursework, as it was easy to lead to collusion. Instead, each week’s
reading list provides at least one carefully selected article that is easy to read, and serves a good
example demonstrating the particular knowledge points and/or the research methods covered in
that week. They are your best examples.
