The questions noted in the “20 Questions A Journalist Should Ask About Poll Results” bring to light questions where polls come from and to not take polls at face value. With such a large assortment of media, pollsters can skew or pick facts that would meet their agenda. One of the top questions pointed out in the article is “who paid for the poll and why was it done? (Sawiser & Evans, n.d.)” Knowing the reason for the poll will assist someone in ascertaining what information or cause for the poll. Another critical question is “What area or group were these people chosen from? (Sawiser & Evans, n.d.)” If you have the same demographic taking the poll, then the answer would be biased. The poll should include multiple ethnicities, backgrounds, and career fields to ensure proper diversification. If a poll is unable to get a wide variety of people, then it should be noted. So while a larger sample size is favorable, knowing other answers to questions also help to ensure that the poll is legitimate.
