Employee Productivity and Motivation Discussion Question
I don’t know how to handle this Management question and need guidance.
Discussion Questions:
1- The best way to raise productivity amongst a workforce is to raise incentives. What do you think? Agree or Disagree? Use one of the motivation theories discussed in chapter 5 to justify your answer.
2- According to McClelland, there are three needs acquired by people: achievement, affiliation, and power. How can a manager recognize or discern which need is most prevalent among his or her employees? What happens if a manager thinks an employee has a strong need for power, but in reality, the employee has the strongest need for affiliation?
3- Do certain types of jobs automatically lead to lower motivation over time? Why, or why not?
4- List three intrinsic and three extrinsic rewards in the workplace.
