Feasibility Report Format and Requirements

Front Matter

Include a title page that has a descriptive title and your name, including your e-mail. It must also state the title as the feasibility question you are addressing (Is it feasible to open a Neiman Marcus store in Fort Collins? Is it feasible to change a specific process used at a company, such as an accounting method or a sales procedure).

Include an executive summary that clearly states the problem you are addressing, summarizes the solution(s) you are proposing, summarizes the plan you wish to replace (if you are replacing a current plan), and summarizes the evidence that supports your solution(s). This is a complete wrap-up of your report findings, including your conclusions and recommendations.

Include a table of contents that lists headings and subheadings exactly as they are found in the report body;

Be sure to number the pages in the front matter using Roman numerals. Center the number in the footer. Do not number the title page.

The report should run in the neighborhood of 8 double-spaced pages, depending upon your project. You will need at least six sources for your report. When citing sources, use a citation style that is consistent and appropriate to your discipline: APA, MLA, etc. Report Body Format Each page of the body of your report should have a header. The header should contain an abbreviated title for the report, your last name, and an Arabic page number flush right. Indicate the organization within your report by using headings and subheadings. Make sure that headings at the same level are written in parallel form. Also, make sure that headings at the same level are consistently placed on the page (i.e., centered, flush left, indented, etc.). If you use underlining, italics, or boldface to indicate heading level, make sure you use it consistently.

Organize the body content as follows: You must organize it into these six sections with headings, packaging it for reader convenience.

Describe the advocated plan in sufficient detail that a reader will have a good grasp of what you are proposing. Introduce current knowledge about the plan you are advocating. Has it worked elsewhere? How has it been implemented?

Discuss your method of analysis. How did you test the feasibility of your proposal?

Provide your feasibility criteria. That is, how did you decide if the proposal was feasible? Be sure to discuss technological feasibility, economic practicality, social desirability, and ecological soundness.

Discuss the conclusions you have drawn from your feasibility analysis. Will the plan work?

Make recommendations based on your conclusions. This may be different from your conclusions.

Throughout the body of your report, try to avoid jargon and technical terms. If appropriate, use graphics and tables to supplement your text.

You should have a page titled references, in which you will list the articles and books and interviews you have used in your report. These references need to be consistent with where they were used in your study, and you should indicate in the body content where they were used.
