Introduction:
Environmental issues are contemporary. That is, issues that affect our environment are being discovered, publicized, studied, debated, and dealt with every day. The purpose of this assignment is to keep you educated about the current state of the environment.
Task:
You will keep an electronic journal of environmental issues in the news. Every week you must collect and READ TWO articles from the newspaper or news websites. Categorize the article under one of the areas of Environmental Studies:
- Biodiversity issue
- Climate issue
- Pollution issue
- Environmental Justice/ Society Issue
- Political Environmental Issue
- Economic Environmental Issue
- The article could relate to several of these topics but choose at LEAST one.
Then, briefly summarize (2-3 sentences) the article in YOUR OWN WORDS. Do not Copy & Paste.

EPA says people should avoid eating fish they catch in NY lakes. They contain PCBs which are harmful to children and fetuses. This mostly affects poor people who fish for food.
