Instructions for Paper
 

  • Please follow these instructions carefully.
  • DUE DATE is April 23 by 3:00 pm. Late papers will not be accepted.  
  • The paper must be submitted using Turnitin in Canvas. Instructions for submitting the paper using Turnitin will be provided by the instructor. Print-out copies or submissions via e-mail will not be accepted.
  • The paper will be evaluated, among other factors, for understanding of the clinical condition and the importance of exercise for its management, clarity, coherence, grammar, syntax, length, and structure.
  • Do NOT engage in Plagiarism—the appropriation of another person’s ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit. Please note than Turnitin checks for plagiarism by generating an Originality Report. For this assignment, direct quotations are not allowed.
  • Do NOT engage in Cheating—intentionally using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, information, notes, study aids or other devices or materials in any academic exercise.
  • Do NOT engage in Complicity—intentionally or knowingly helping, or attempting to help, another to commit an act of academic dishonesty.
  • The condition to be reviewed will be based on your last name initial. Failure to comply with this rule, will result in zero credit.  Please check with the following table.

  • Papers must comply with all of the following:
    1. Prepared with Microsoft Word
    2. APA style for citations and references
    3. Typed
    4. Double-spaced
    5. Arial 11-pt fonts (i.e., the font type and size of this document; please note that the default font type in Microsoft Word is NOT Arial)
    6. 1-inch margins around
    7. No empty lines between sections.
    8. Must have page numbers, starting with the Title page
    9. Papers must be at least 6 full pages and no more than 7 pages in length. This excludes the Title page, the List of References, and figures or tables (if any).
    10. Direct quotations are not allowed.

 

  • The Title Page must include the following:

  • The body of the paper must include the following sections; please use these exact headings in the paper, but do not use the numbering or bullets (numbers or bullets automatically change the left margin).

  • References

After the main body of the paper, there should be a separate page with the Reference List.  Please remember that the reference list is not included in the total number of required pages.
 

  • You must use at least 4 references:
  1. One of the references must be the respective chapter in your textbook.
  2. One of the references must be the CDC website. If you think that there is not enough information on the CDC website, you must consult the instructor on alternatives.
  3. Two of the references must be 2 articles of your choice published in Scientific Peer-Reviewed Journals. The paper must have been published in 2014 or later.
  4. Additional references may be used.

 

  • Figures and Tables

Figures and Tables are not mandatory; however, they could be added. Each figure or table should be on a separate page after the References—not in the main body of the paper.  Please include a Figure Caption for each figure explaining what the figure demonstrates.  Similarly, include a Title for each Table.  Please remember that the Figures or Tables are not included in the total required pages.
 
 

  • Citation Style
  1. All in-text citations and the Reference List must follow the APA style.
  2. An example of a paper using the APA style has been posted in Course Documents in myCourses.
