As you sit at home, you will be tasked with paying attention to current events and the people in your community to answer the prompt:
“To what extent did the United States government contain the coronavirus?”
This paper will require you to closely observe what is happening around you –in your community, in the United States, and across the globe. You will be expected to keep up with current events to help supplement your work, and hence, your paper should address the government points in time.
In your typed or (neatly)handwritten paper, you will need to address the following:
- The national government’s response over time (be specific –who? What government agency?) 2. The state and/or local government’s response over time.
- The reactions of people in your community, family, or friend group
- Both an objective report of the responses (What is happening?) and a reflective analysis on it (Was this the proper reaction or plan of action, and why?)
5.You must connect your work to at least 3 topics/terms/concepts learned in our class (make sure to explain the connection!)
6.You must reference/discuss at least 3 news articles or current events (remember to cite all sources!)
- Conclude your paper by giving a grade to the government for their actions taken to contain the coronavirus. Explain why they received that grade from you, how they could have been better (if applicable), and your prediction for what might happen next
In times like these, history relies on normal people to record the moments to remember. You are currently a primary source, and your reflections are an indication of the historic moments we are and will continue to go through this year. Feel free to include pictures, personal journal entries, interviews, reference news clips, etc. in your work!
