You have a choice of this week’s assignment of either #1 or #2:  Review Chapter 8:

1.  Complete Exercises 1-3 p. 230 in your textbook.  For #1, you do not need up-to-date information and may obtain information that’s readily available in any university in USA.

2.  Locate a company’s annual report online or in print.  In a memo to your instructor discuss the key graphic and image areas addressed in the report and what audience considerations appear to have been made, and purpose related factors.  For instance, if it’s a publicly traded company, the report is mandatory each year.  If  nonprofit, the report is to generate goodwill and acknowledge efforts of benefactors.  Do not make this a financial analysis please.  This is all about design, per Chapter 8’s focus.  At a minimum include assessment of photographs, graphics, headings, chunking, charts, color and design.  Address the five principles of effective graphics, page 200.  Do not do an analysis of the financial data; this is a graphics section of instruction and we are only interested in data as it relates to the images used to present it.
