Special Research Paper
Your research paper examines the association of music or musical concepts
within the context of your major course of study. For instance, education
majors may wish to explore the practice or history of music in the classroom.
Business majors may wish to investigate financial issues related to music
licensing, music downloading, etc. Medical students may write about music in
therapy, occupational hazards of musicianship, or about the physiology or
psychology of performance. A list of sources consulted during your research
should be included on a separate page of your submission (page 4). Please
consult with your instructor should you need help choosing a topic. You’ll be
amazed at the number of topics available to you!
Your paper should be three full pages in length (approximately 280 words per
page), double-spaced, written in 12 pt font, and must conform to MLA
guidelines. Do not use extra spaces between paragraphs
Live Music Event Critique
During the semester in which the student is enrolled in MUL 2380, one LIVE
musical event will be attended. The musical event may be a concert, recital, or
musical performance as entertainment in a restaurant, club, park, church,
mall, school, or other venue. All genres are acceptable, but rock, jazz, hip-
hop, rap, Latin, techno, metal, or any of the genres associated with this
course are preferred. Musicians should be performing live on musical
instruments and not exclusively with pre-recorded backing tracks.
