Part I: At the top of your submitted paper, match the following types of evaluations with the appropriate situation (make certain to review the rubric below):

Type of EvaluationSituationEconomic EvaluationThis type of evaluation involves the collection of information to describe what a program includes and how it functions over time. In other words, it is a systematic collection of information on a program’s inputs, activities, and outputs, as well as the program’s context and other key characteristics.Process EvaluationMeasures effect and changes that result from the program/campaign. These are short-term and medium- term changes in program participants that result directly from the program, such as new knowledge and awareness, attitude change, beliefs, social norms, and behavior change, etc.Impact EvaluationIn this type of evaluation, programs or projects are assessed at the end of an operating cycle, and findings typically are used to help decide whether a program should be adopted, continued, or modified for improvement.Needs AssessmentThis type of evaluation is an effort to use analytic methods to identify, measure, value, or compare the costs and consequences of one or more alternative programs or interventions. Consequences could be disease cases averted, quality- adjusted life years, or cost-savings because of disease prevention.Formative EvaluationThis type of evaluation measures the difference between what happened with the program and what would have happened without it. It answers the question, “How much (if any) of the change observed in the target population occurred because of the program or intervention?” Measures community-level change or longer-term results (i.e., changes in disease risk status, morbidity, and mortality) that have occurred as a result of the program or intervention. These results are the net effects, typically on the entire school, community, organization, society, or environment.Summative EvaluationA systematic method for collecting, analyzing, and using information to answer questions about projects, policies, and programs, particularly about their effectiveness and efficiency.Outcome EvaluationA systematic process to determine needs, the measurable gaps between current and desired conditions. Determines who needs the program or intervention, how great the need is, and what can be done to best meet the need.  Involves audience research and informs audience segmentation and marketing mix (Four Ps) strategies.Program EvaluationIn this type of evaluation, programs or projects are typically assessed during their development or early implementation to provide information about how best to revise and modify for improvement. This type of evaluation often is helpful for pilot projects and new programs but can be used for progress monitoring of ongoing programs.
