The Exercise Risk Questionnaire (ERQ) and Risk Classification Calculator (RCC) are tools used to determine if exercise is safe and appropriate for a client. For this Assignment, you will conduct both a self-assessment as well as a client assessment using your client (SEE ATTACHMENT). You will determine both your personal risk status as well as your exercise and fitness needs based on your age and precautions. You will also determine your clients personal risk status as well as his exercise and fitness needs based on his age and precautions.
Instructions:
Part 1: Self-Assessment
Complete the ERQ assessment and RCC (http://www.exrx.net/Testing/ERQ.html and http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/RiskClass.html. Using your results, discuss whether you answered “yes” on any questions in the ERQ or RCC and if so, which questions? Based on your results, are you considered high, moderate, or low risk? Would you need a physician’s approval before beginning an exercise program? Do you have any precautions or limitations to consider when designing an exercise program?
Next, determine your exercise needs based on your age and precautions. Describe the minimum exercise recommendations per the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans based on your age and cohort. Discuss whether you are currently meeting the recommendations. If yes, provide a detailed discussion about your current exercise program. If you are not meeting the recommendations, discuss how you are falling short and what has prevented you from achieving them in the last 30 days.
Part 2: Client Assessment (Justin)
Read your clientsbiography (SEE ATTACHMENT). Using this information, complete the ERQ assessment and RCC (SAME LINKS AS ABOVE).
