While reading the National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services, the most influential standard for what I desire to do in the future is, “Conduct regular assessments of community health assets and needs and use the results to plan and implement services that respond to the cultural and linguistic diversity of populations in the service area”. This standard is crucial as it focuses on accountability of organizations and the effectiveness outreach of those within the community. By conducting these assessments of community health assets and needs, it provides tangible data about the resources that are in the community and the barriers to accessing resources for culturally diverse groups. Since communities are ever-changing, it is crucial to have assessments completed in order to ensure cultural competency, awareness, and cultural linguistics. Within my implementation of this standard, it would be important to address how information is being disseminated in different languages, what cultural barriers their are to accessing health, and data summaries of diversity within the community. By implementing these systems and ensuring that there is cultural and linguistic diversity, it will not only hold organizations accountable, but will also increase patient care and create a more culturally diverse community. Because there are many organizations, hospitals, and clinic within a community that all partner with different stakeholders, it is important to ensure a quality of standard for all places and implement systems that are effective for all people and reduce barriers to accessing quality care.
