I’m working on a anthropology project and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

My topic – Sámi Culture

Each group (assigned by professor) will choose either a non-Western culture or a well-developed fictional culture and create a presentation through Google Slides based on their chosen topic. The below points should be presented in the presentation. These include:

• Map of territory

• Creation story

• Brief history of culture

• Economic/Subsistence system

• Healing/Medical Practices

• Kinship

• Political Organization

• Religion/Religious practices

• Arts

• Globalization and your culture

You should also have a bibliography/source slide on in your presentation (MLA, Chicago, APA format, or discuss with instructor if a different style is used in your department). The Rowan library is at your disposal, as is the Internet. If you choose a real culture, your sources must be scholarly or reputable sources (i.e. not Bob’s blog on the Hazda), please do not use sites like Wikipedia if presenting on a real culture. If you choose a fictional culture there is more freedom in our sources, but all source used must be clearly cited.

The culture chosen can be historic, modern or a well-developed fictional culture, but must be approved by the instructor prior to the due date.

Please refer to the group project rubric and list above on the content needed for the presentation. The presentation will NOT actually be presented, so you must include “notes” on how what information your group would present in tandem with the slides. In creating your presentation make sure to follow the cardinal rules of presentations without text heavy slides and using images or pictures. Your group project will be monitored throughout the semester by the instructor.
