The American School Counselor Association (2019) explains, “school counselors have limited time to spend in classrooms, and it is imperative to give enough time and thought about what will be delivered, to whom it will be delivered, how it will be delivered and how student attainment of the lesson’s plans goals will be assessed” (p. 55). This week, you will describe the significance of creating lesson plans for school crises and traumas and create two lesson plans to include in your school crisis toolkit. This will include describing evidence-based strategies to use and plan ways to prevent or respond to these traumas or crises.

Review the Learning Resources for Module 3 (Weeks 9–10) and use your knowledge of ASCA Lesson Planning (ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs, pp. 55–57), and consider the resources needed to support students experiencing situations of trauma or crisis in group counseling settings. It may help you to consult with your local school district to understand their policy with respect to school crises
