“Youth e-cigarette use is a growing at an alarmingly rate. It’s a regular topic of concern that is being covered on a national level by multiple media outlets. Vaping is linked with a number of serious health issues including and up to death. There’s also the underlying concern of the effects nicotine addiction has on brain development in young users. However, despite these very serious consequences, teenagers continue to vape. They’re doing it in classrooms and on school campuses. It would seem the use of e-cigarettes has not significantly decreased even with the increased awareness and ban of its use on campuses. Initially, a proposal to ban flavored e-cigarettes and raise the age of purchase from 18 to 21, was going to be presented. However, it was delayed. Some believe the reason for the delay is because of the influence the vaping company, JUUL, has with policymakers. The company has a number of lobbyists working for them. Its being reported that if the ban were to take place, it ultimately could result in even more revenue for the company, as it would largely effect small-businesses the most when new regulation is put in place, by putting them out of business.” -Jessica S

“Because I do not watch much news and only see political non sense on social media, I’m going to give a personal experience. I work in a type of a business where sometimes we start our line of work and then clients pay 10-45 days later based on the terms that they signed in their contract. We had a client that had 30 day terms. They signed a 12 month automatic renewal contract. In the contract it also says in the cancellation clause, if they are wanting to cancel, they need to give a 30 day notice. About 5 months in to their contract, they decided to stop paying. After multiple attempts to reach the client by phone and email, we sent the client to collections. Our collection company did not have any luck with getting a hold of them let alone making payments. We then took it to the next step is small business court. In conclusion, in court, they were prompted to pay us their remainder of their contract. A few month later, we received the money paid in full.” -Stephanie C
